Cost per terminal is a fairer way to compare forex VPS providers than the monthly price alone, because plans differ in how many trading terminals they run. This article compares FXVM and CheapForexVPS on that basis.

On CheapForexVPS plans, the cost per terminal is lowest on the plan closest to full. At the lowest listed rate, the best case is Business running its listed maximum of 20 terminals, at about $2.25 each. Other well-used plans work out at about $2.50 to $2.81 per terminal, while the one-terminal Lite plan comes to $5.00. At monthly rates, the CheapForexVPS Advanced plan works out to $5.00 to $7.50 per terminal, compared with $8.33 to $12.50 for the FXVM Advanced plan, which lists the same 4 to 6 terminals. The cheapest forex VPS per terminal is therefore the plan that most closely matches a trader’s terminal count. The sections below cover the calculation, the comparison with FXVM, plan terms and alternatives to FXVM.

The figures for both providers come from their own websites, checked on 3 November 2026, and are in US dollars. Prices and terms change, so confirm them before ordering. CheapForexVPS published this article, so every figure is drawn from public pages that you can check yourself.

How does the cost per terminal compare across each plan?

Cost per terminal is a plan’s monthly price divided by the number of terminals it is listed to run, so it falls as the plan fills up. A full plan costs about $2.25 to $2.81 per terminal at the lowest listed rate, and $3.60 to $4.50 at the annual rate. The lowest listed rate is the one the plans page labels the Bi-Annual Price.

The plans page gives the optimal number of MT4 or MT5 terminals for each plan as a range, for example, 2 to 4 on Standard. The lower figure in each cost cell below assumes the plan runs its maximum number of terminals. The higher figure assumes it runs only the minimum. Prices are as listed on the plans page at the time of writing and may change. The cost-per-terminal figures are calculated from them and rounded to the nearest cent. One caution applies to the maximums. The plans page also says each terminal typically uses about 1GB of RAM, so some listed maximums sit above what the installed RAM would suggest, such as 20 terminals on Business, which has 16GB. The lower cost-per-terminal figures are therefore best cases, not a guarantee of what a plan will comfortably run.

Plan Terminals listed Lowest listed rate (per month) Cost per terminal Annual rate (per month) Cost per terminal
Lite 1 $5 $5.00 $8 $8.00
Standard 2 to 4 $10 $2.50 to $5.00 $16 $4.00 to $8.00
Advanced 4 to 6 $15 $2.50 to $3.75 $24 $4.00 to $6.00
Specialist 6 to 10 $26 $2.60 to $4.33 $41.60 $4.16 to $6.93
Business 10 to 20 $45 $2.25 to $4.50 $72 $3.60 to $7.20
Enterprise 20 to 32 $90 $2.81 to $4.50 $144 $4.50 to $7.20
Conglomerate 32 to 64 $160 $2.50 to $5.00 $256 $4.00 to $8.00

How is cost per terminal worked out?

Divide the monthly price by the number of terminals actually running on the plan.

Advanced is listed at $15 a month at the lowest rate for 4 to 6 terminals. Six terminals give $2.50 each ($15 divided by 6), while four give $3.75 each ($15 divided by 4). The plan and the price are the same, but the cost per terminal changes with how much of the plan is used. The amount actually paid is always the plan price, regardless of how many terminals are running, so cost per terminal is a way to compare plans, not a price in itself.

Which plans suit one to four terminals?

Lite is listed for one terminal and Standard for two to four, with Advanced overlapping at four.

RAM is the main thing to check, because the plans page says each terminal typically uses about 1GB. Standard has 3GB, and Advanced has 4GB, so a fourth terminal is a closer fit on Advanced. Moving from Lite to Standard doubles the monthly price at the lowest rate. It only lowers the cost per terminal if the extra terminals are real. The same applies to MT4 and MT5, and the notes on running MT5 on a cheap forex VPS cover the platform side.

What about traders running ten or more terminals?

Business is listed for 10 to 20 terminals, Enterprise for 20 to 32, and Conglomerate for 32 to 64.

Scale does not automatically lower the cost per terminal. A Business plan running its listed maximum of 20 terminals costs $2.25 per terminal at the lowest rate. Twenty terminals on Enterprise cost $4.50 each, twice as much, because part of the plan sits idle. Higher plans add capacity. They only add value when there are terminals to use it.

How does FXVM compare with CheapForexVPS on cost per terminal?

FXVM sells four VPS plans with their own listed terminal ranges, billed month to month. The table uses FXVM’s list prices, before its promotional code, and CheapForexVPS’s monthly rates, so both sides show what a trader pays without a long commitment.

Terminals listed FXVM plan (price per month) FXVM cost per terminal CheapForexVPS plan (price per month) CheapForexVPS cost per terminal
1 to 2 Lite VPS: $25 (2 cores, 1.5GB RAM, 60GB SSD) $12.50 to $25.00 Lite (1 terminal): $10/month when billed quarterly. $10.00 (quarterly)
4 to 6 Advanced VPS: $50 (2 cores, 4GB RAM, 90GB SSD) $8.33 to $12.50 Advanced: $30 (2 cores, 4GB RAM, 40GB) $5.00 to $7.50
1 to 2 High Freq VPS: $69 (1 core at 3.4GHz or more, 3GB RAM, 110GB SSD) $34.50 to $69.00 No equivalent plan listed Not applicable

Where the listed range is the same, 4 to 6 terminals on Advanced, CheapForexVPS costs about 40 per cent less per terminal at monthly rates. At its lowest rate of $15, the same plan works out at $2.50 to $3.75 per terminal. FXVM currently advertises 15 per cent off all plans with a code, which brings its Advanced plan to $42.50, or $7.08 to $10.63 per terminal. That narrows the gap without closing it, and the offer may not last. FXVM also sells a Virtual Desktop plan at $15 a month, limited to one trading platform.

Two costs shift the comparison. FXVM lists automatic backups in every VPS plan, whereas CheapForexVPS sells backups as an add-on: $3 a month on Advanced, bringing that plan to $33 a month against FXVM’s $50. FXVM also gives more storage, 90GB on Advanced against 40GB. The RAM caution above applies to both providers: if the rough guide of 1GB per terminal holds, FXVM’s maximum of 6 terminals on 4GB of RAM is also a best case.

How should a trader choose the right plan for a given setup?

Count the terminals currently running, find the plan whose listed range covers that number, then compare the billing terms.

Two traders with the same budget can sensibly choose different plans, because their terminal counts differ. The full plan comparison lists every tier side by side.

Is it better to buy for current terminals or leave room to grow?

Buying for the current count suits a trader who does not expect to add terminals soon, and buying one tier up suits a trader who does.

Paying for unused capacity costs money every month. Choosing too small can cause slowdowns and a plan change at an inconvenient moment. Neither risk is zero. CheapForexVPS states that plans can be upgraded or downgraded and lists a 5-day money-back guarantee, which gives some room to correct a wrong choice early. It is worth asking support how an upgrade works before making one with trades open.

Does the billing term change which plan is cheapest per terminal?

The billing term changes every figure but not the order of the plans. At the annual rate, every plan costs 1.6 times its lowest listed rate, so among plans from Standard upwards, Business stays the lowest per terminal when full and Enterprise the highest.

The lowest rate needs the longest commitment. That is how the pricing is built, and it matters for anyone who prefers to pay month to month. Lite has no monthly rate. The other plans list one at twice the lowest rate, for example, $20 a month for Standard. FXVM states that all its services are billed month to month with no long-term contract, so the monthly comparison above is the one that applies to it.

What else affects value besides the monthly price?

Server location and the freedom to change plans affect value as much as price per terminal does.

A plan can be cheap per terminal and still be a poor fit if its server sits far from the broker. CheapForexVPS offers two locations, New York and London, and the guide to choosing the right VPS location for a broker explains how to decide between them.

Does a cheaper plan make trades slower?

No. Speed depends mainly on how far the server is from the broker’s server, not on the plan’s price.

The broker latency table lists response times from both locations. Admiral Markets, for example, shows 1 millisecond from London and 71 from New York. Only two locations are offered, so a broker based elsewhere may not see low figures from either.

How do the two providers differ on terms?

The table sets the main published terms side by side. FXVM is ahead on several of them.

Neither uptime figure has been independently tested for this article, so treat both as the providers’ own stated commitments.

Which provider suits which trader?

FXVM suits traders whose broker’s server is outside New York and London, because its location list is much longer, and traders who want to pay month to month without a long commitment. Included backups and more storage per plan also help anyone who wants less to configure or keeps large data sets.

CheapForexVPS suits traders whose broker’s server is in New York or London and who want a lower per-terminal cost. It also leaves more room to grow, with plans up to 64GB of RAM, so a trader who adds terminals can move up a tier without changing provider. Some Asia-Pacific brokers in its latency table show well over 100 milliseconds from both New York and London, and a trader with one of those brokers would be better served by a provider with a nearby location, such as FXVM.

What are the alternatives to FXVM?

Traders usually look for an FXVM alternative because of price, plan size or location. Three providers are worth checking, based on details from their own sites as of 3 November 2026.

CheapForexVPS. Seven plans from 2GB to 64GB of RAM, priced from $5 a month at the lowest rate, with servers in New York and London. It suits traders with brokers in those cities who want a lower cost per terminal and room to scale. The plans page lists every tier side by side.

SocialVPS. Four classic plans with 1GB to 8GB of dedicated RAM, priced from $5.67 a month on annual billing, with data centres that include New York, London, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, France and Canada. Its plans list Windows Server 2012, which is older than the versions offered by FXVM and CheapForexVPS. Its uptime guarantee is stated as 100% for New York and a lower figure for other locations.

FxSVPS. Data centres in 43 cities, with a free move between cities once a month. It advertises single-terminal plans from about $2 a month, depending on billing term, and states a 99.99% uptime commitment with credit on request and a 14-day money-back window.

Whichever provider is shortlisted, compare plans at the same billing term and the same number of terminals, as in the tables above.

Cost per terminal is a useful way to compare plans, but only alongside an honest count of the terminals a trader actually runs. Anyone with questions about sizing can get in touch with the team before choosing a plan.
